Julia and Alex had the perfect intimate Christmas wedding at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church with a small reception at Taylor Lodge last weekend! It was a joyful, intentional day, sprinkled with pops of Christmas burgundy and people who loved this sweet couple very deeply. Alex and Julia met through their high school youth group, but didn't date until college. Their friends' testified during the speeches at the reception that these two were perfect for each other and meant to be!

They celebrated their wedding on the feast of the Holy Family in the chapel at St. Brendan. Their small wedding party was made up of their closest friends from high school, who were so joyful and honestly so great to work with! We did first looks with all of the bride's important people - both of her grandmothers (one of whom made her dress), her dad, the whole wedding party, and all of her sisters. Julia & Alex opted to have a first moment without seeing each other, where they steadied their hearts and prayed together. Their wedding ceremony was celebrated by a deacon who was a close friend of their family (and the dad of one of the bridesmaids), so they did not have a full Mass but a ceremony rite. The chapel was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with red curtains, wreaths, and poinsettias. This location was special to the family, as it featured a stained glass window donated by the bride's grandparents. After the Mass, Julia & Alex opted to have their family photos outside the church despite the cold which was a BEAUTIFUL decision!! I'm all for altar family photos, but you can't beat the pretty natural light available outside over the often orange light indoors.

Their wedding reception at Taylor Lodge in Johns Creek was a blast. They did a group dance for the Mother/Son & Father/Daughter dances, inviting present mother-son and father-daughter groupings to join them. The bride also honored her mother with a dance as a thank you. I had worked with the bride's family before back in August, so I knew this family was a hit on the dance floor, and they did not disappoint! After a private last dance and an exit with fiber optic wands (super cool alternative to sparklers!), Julia and Alex made their getaway. I am so grateful for the awesome couples that trust me with their wedding photos and precious memories. Congrats Julia and Alex!!
