Catherine & Nick are the kind of couple that when you meet them, you instantly recognize that God designed them for each other. These two cuties are just so very compatible and every interaction I had with them, I saw how they brought out the best in each other naturally. Their story began when Nick was assigned to Catherine's parish in Greenwood, South Carolina as seminarian! Obviously, the Lord didn't end up calling him to the priesthood, but that time provided a beautiful space for him to grow as a person and in platonic friendship with his future wife. After he left the seminary, they reconnected and, as Catherine said, "agreed we knew from day one and never had any doubts that we had found the one God made for us". As a Catholic wedding photographer, that story makes me chuckle a bit - the places we meet our spouses can be crazy sometimes, just the way the Lord likes it, haha.
Catherine and Nick got married in August at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Greenwood, SC, the bride's home parish. I've yet to see a church with this kind of altar, it's quite beautiful! Catherine got ready at the Inn on the Square in the downtown area, and it was just the cutest little venue. It was a sweet morning spent with her bridesmaids and a letter from her husband to be. Nick and his groomsmen rented out an Airbnb on the lake - the perfect backdrop for his last morning as a single man! Catherine was effortlessly beautiful - her dad immediately began crying when he saw her during their father daughter reveal at the church. The wooden doors at the church made the perfect backdrop for many of our photos, especially since it rained on and off throughout the day.
Their reception at the Greenwood Arts Center was simple but so dang fun!! These two know how to have a good party, and hired the Emerald Empire Band to play the night away - and y'all, truly I can't say enough good things about this band. They keep the dance floor FULL and they're so fun, talented, and professional. We snuck in some golden hour (more like overcast hour) portraits with the sweet couple and then ended the night with a private last dance and a ribbon wand exit. More fun summer wedding days like this one please!!
